Ariella Arida Finishes 3rd Runner-Up In Miss Universe 2013

Ariella Arida of the Philippines finished 3rd runner-up at the recently concluded Miss Universe 2013 pageant held at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia that aired on Velvet Channel and on ABS-CBN.

The 24-year-old beauty from Laguna bested 80 other candidates from across the world and made it to the top five alongside Venezuela's Gabriela Isler who won the pageant; Spain’s Patricia Rodríguez who finished 1st runner up; Ecuador’s Constanza Báez as 2nd runner up; and Brazil’s Jakelyne Oliveira as 4th runner up.

Tension definitely rose among viewers when Ariella, who graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines-Los Banos with a degree in Chemistry, was called last in the top 16 after winning the official online polls.

She then strutted on stage wearing a red bikini and stole the show with her signature turn before advancing to the top ten.

In the evening gown competition, Ariella elegantly paraded a yellow dress that finally earned her a spot in the top five.

Ariella Arida of the Philippines was named third runner-up in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2013 pageant held in Moscow, Russia on Saturday night, November 9.

Although her answer during the Q&A portion was the most-applauded, Arida failed to take home the crown, which went to Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler.

"What can be done about the lack of jobs for young people starting their careers around the world?" judge Tara Lipinski asked.

The 24-year-old Laguna beauty answered, "I do believe we should invest in education... and that is my primary advocacy. Education is a primary source and a ticket for better future."

Miss Universe 2013 winner is set to be crowned during the pageant's grand coronation ceremony that is currently taking place at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

Tonight's event will feature the 86 lovely candidates in their swimsuits and evening gowns as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2013. Last year's winner, Olivia Culpo of the United States of America, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour telecast.

Hosted by Thomas Roberts of "MSNBC Live" and Spice Girls member Melanie Brown, the ceremony will also showcase performances from Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, American rock band Panic! At The Disco and Azerbaijani singer-songwriter EMIN will be performing during the event.

Miss Universe 2013 Coronation Night To Be Aired Live On Velvet Channel

Miss Universe 2013 coronation night is happening tonight at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia (November 10, 2 am, Philippine time).

The highly anticipated event is going to be aired live on Velvet Channel at 2am. ABS-CBN will also have a special telecast at 9am. Replays will be broadcast on ABS-CBN at 10:45am and on Velvet at 7pm.

To be hosted by award-winning journalist and "MSNBC Live" host Thomas Roberts and Spice Girls member Melanie Brown, the ceremony will feature the candidates in their swimsuits and evening gowns as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2013. USA's Olivia Culpo will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour telecast.

Ariella Arida of the Philippines stole the show during the recent Miss Universe 2013 preliminary competition after she strutted on stage wearing her swimsuit and evening gown that not only gained one of the loudest cheers from the crowd but also gained positive feedback online, making her a trending topic on Twitter.

Filipino fans stayed awake after midnight just to support Arida. While watching the livestream on the official Miss Universe site, Filipino netizens from around the world shared how much Arida wowed them and how proud they are of the Philippines’ bet to the prestigious beauty pageant.

Even in the venue, the Pinay beauty was one of most applauded candidates among 85 other beautiful women from different parts of the globe.

Miss Universe 2013 Preliminary Competition To Go Live Online

Miss Universe 2013 preliminary competition is set to take place tonight at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

To be hosted by Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and comedian Nick Teplitz, the show will showcase the 86 lovely candidates of this year's pageant as they compete in swimsuit and evening gown before a panel of judges.

Judging the contestants in this event are Russian fashion icon Irina Agalarova, modeling industry veteran Corinne Nicolas, Emmy-nominated producer and journalist David Perozzi, "E! News" correspondent Alicia Quarles, fashion publicist and philanthropist Gabriel Rivera-Barraza, Telemundo's Jose Sariego, and Miss Universe Canada 2010 Elena Semikina.

Miss Universe 2013 preliminaries will be broadcast live on the official Youtube account of Miss Universe.

Ariella Arida Defended By Janine Tugonon From Critics

Ariella Arida is doing pretty well in the Miss Universe 2013 competition but some Noypis fear that her poor command in English language might hinder her from winning the coveted title.

Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon said it is not an issue and reiterated her answer to the question she was asked during last year's Finals that speaking English is not a pre-requisite to winning Miss Universe.

"Honestly, I’m not that good in English but still I managed to clinch the first runner-up title," explained Tugonon. "What they care about is what’s in your heart, your personality, and your stand on certain issues. Knowing Ara, I know she has a good heart and so I’m confident with her interviews."

Tugonon, who just finished her two-month acting class in the Los Angeles branch of the prestigious New York Film Academy, believes Ara is a very strong contender and may be the one to finally bring back the Miss Universe crown to the country after 40 years. Marga…

The judges of Miss Universe 2013 beauty pageant have been announced on Saturday, November 2.

The panel includes Aerosmith’s front man Steven Tyler, acclaimed chef Chef Nobu, Gold medal figure skater Tara Lipinski, TV personality Carol Alt, Supermodel-actress Anne V, businessman Farouk Shami, watch designer Italo Fontana, and  iconic Russian pop-star  Philip Kirkorov.

Tyler will not only sit as judge but will also perform during the Miss Universe 2013 coronation night. As previously announced, American rock band Panic! At The Disco and Azerbaijani singer-songwriter EMIN will also take the stage during the broadcast.

Miss International Queen 2013 Winner Crowned (Results)

The Miss International Queen 2013 winner was crowned during a ceremony held at the Tiffany's Show Theater in Pattaya City, Thailand.

This year's winner is 17-year-old Marcela Ohio of Brazil, who bested more than 20 candidates from all over the world to win the coveted title. Ohio, who also won the Best Evening Gown award, succeeded last year's winner, Kevin Balot of the Philippines.

Miss USA Shantell D'marco was named 1st runner-up, while Miss Thailand Netnapada Kanrayanon, who took home the Miss Photogenic award, was 2nd runner-up.

Also making it to the Top 10 were Miss South Africa (#15), Malaysia (#7), Germany(#25), Japan (#6), Japan (#21), Philippines (#23), and Brazil (#2).

The other winners of special awards were Miss Spain (Miss Congeniality), Miss South Korea (Best National Costume), Miss Malaysia (Best Talent), and Miss Singapore (Miss Ripley's Popular).

Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 Winner Is Srishti Rana Of India

The Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 coronation night was held in Seoul, Korea on Wednesday, October 30.

For the second consecutive year, a candidate from India was crowned winner of the pageant. Srishti Rana, 21, bested 49 other contestants from around the world to take home the title. She also took home the award for Best National Costume.

Miss Egypt Meriam George was named 1st runner-up, while George Evgenia Klishina of Kazakhstan was 2nd runner-up.

Rounding off the Top 7 were Miss Russia Ekaterina Grushanina (3rd RU), Miss Sweden Moa Madicken Öberg (4th RU), Miss Mongolia Battulga Bilguunzaya (5th RU), and Miss Australi La-Toyah Ashaa (6th RU).

Representatives of Ukraine, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Philippines, Trinidad & Tobago, Central Africa, Latvia, and Mozambique also made it to the Top 15.

The Miss Universe 2013 official fan voting has been launched on Monday, October 28.

To vote, hover the cursor over the photo of your favorite candidate on MissUniverse.com and tick the item that says "Vote For Me." You just then have to fill out the needed information on the pop out that will come out. You can vote up to 100 times per email in one day.

The voting period will end on November 8. The winner of the official poll will get a guaranteed spot in the semifinals.

Miss Universe 2013 Coronation Night To Be Held On November 9

The Miss Universe 2013 coronation night is set to take place at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia on November 9.

The ceremony, which will be telecast on NBC and Telemundo, will be hosted by award-winning journalist and "MSNBC Live" host Thomas Roberts and Spice Girls member Melanie Brown. According to reports, American TV personality Andy Cohen, who is openly gay, was also offered a hosting job but he declined it because of Russia's recent adoption of anti-gay laws.

Returning to take viewers behind the scenes to engage with contestants, talent and fans throughout the telecast is veteran Miss Universe commentator Jeannie Mai. Mai is best known as the host of Style Network’s two-time Emmy Award nominated makeover series "How Do I Look?" and is also recognized for her fashion segments on NBC’s "Today."

Ariella Arida, Riza Santos Are Roomates In Russia

Ariella Arida has arrived in Russia on Tuesday for the Miss Universe 2013 competition.

Apparently, she will be spending many of her time in the foreign country with a "kababayan," in the person of Riza Santos, who is representing Canada in the prestigious beauty pageant. The two Filipinas have reportedly been assigned to a same room.

Santos was crowned Miss Canada Universe 2013 in May, two days after the coronation night. This was after a typo error which significantly impacted the final results of the competition was discovered by the organizers. After the error was corrected, it was found out that the contestant crowned that night was actually just fourth and Santos was the one whp received the highest score from the judges. The organizers later apologized for what happened and gave the title to Santos.

Megan Young Homecoming Parade Set For October 11

Megan Young is slated to arrive in the Philippines next week!

Before she will embark into a tour around the world to fulfill her duties as Miss World winner, the Filipino-American actress-host, who is currently in London, is set to fly back to Manila on Thursday.

A homecoming parade has been scheduled for the beauty queen on Friday afternoon, October 11. It will be held on Ayala Avenue in the business district of Makati City.

According to Miss World Philippines director Cory Quirino, the victory motorcade will be similar to the ones accorded to Miss International 1964 Gemma Cruz and Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, among other past Philippine representatives who won in international beauty pageants.

Young, 23, won the first-ever Miss World title for the Philippines in Bali, Indonesia on September 28, besting more than 120 candidates from all over the world. The coronation night was broadcast in over 180 countries.

Miss World 2013 Winner Crowned (Results)

The Miss World 2013 pageant culminated Saturday night in Bali, Indonesia with the representative from the Philippines being crowned as winner.

An early favorite, Filipino-American beauty Megan Young topped the scoreboard just before the Top 6 were announced and sealed her victory with a solid answer during the Q&A. The 23-year-old TV host-actress also won the Top Model award.

Young, a student of digital film making, is the first Filipina to win the Miss World title in the pageant's 63-year history.

Megan Young of the Philippines has been crowned winner of the Miss World 2013 pageant, which was held in Bali, Indonesia on Saturday, September 28.

The 23-year-old TV host-actress bested 130 lovely ladies from around the globe to take home the coveted crown. She also won the Top Model award.

During the Question and Answer portion, the Top 6 finalists were all asked the question: "Why should you be Miss World."

Young's answer was: "Salamat Malam, Indonesia! A Miss World, for me, treasures the core values of humanity and that guides her into understanding people --why they act the way that they do and how they are living their lives. Miss World 2013 Challenge Winners Announced

With just a day before the Miss World 2013 coronation ceremony, the pageant world now has a good idea on who will enter the Semi-finals of the competition as the winners of the fast track events have been announced.

Revealed during Friday's rehearsals, the names of the winners are as follows:

Megan Young Wins Miss World 2013 Top Model Challenge

Megan Young is a step closer to bringing home the Miss World 2013 crown.

The Filipina beauty has been named the winner of the pageant's Top Model challenge, a modeling fast track competition which gives the winner a ticket to the Semi-finals.

Since the fast track events were added in 2003, there have been two Miss World title holders who also won the Top Model contest -- Zhang Zilin (China, 2007), Ksenia Sukhinova (Russia, 2008). Will Young be the third?

The 23-year-old actress also made it to the Top 5 of other fast track events, 4th in Multimedia and 5th in Beach Fashion.

Miss Philippines is currently second in the Miss World online voting, next to Maroua Kharbouch of Gibraltar. The candidate with the most votes will be declared the People’s Champion and will go straight to the Finals.
