Jaclyn Jose Wins Best Actress At Cannes Film Festival 2016

Jaclyn Jose received the "Best Actress" award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her role in the Filipino film "Ma'Rosa."
Helmed by prolific Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, "Ma'Rosa" tells the story of a couple who owns a sari-sari store and moonlights as drug dealers in a poor neighborhood in Manila. It is the 4th Cannes entry of Mendoza, who won the award for "Best Director" at the said festival in 2009 for his film "Kinatay." In 2015, Mendoza's movie "Taklub" was given the "Ecumenical Jury-Prize Special Mention" award.

LET Results 2016: PRC Releases Teachers Board Exam Result

The March 2016 LET results have been released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
According to the PRC, a total of 12,128 out of 42,739 examinees (28.38%) successfully passed in the elementary level, while 18,810 out of 53,090 examinees (35.43%) successfully passed in the secondary level.

The Licensure Examination for Teachers, otherwise known as the Teachers Board Exam, was given last March 20, 2016 in various testing centers across the country.

The PRC said online registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will take place on May 30 - June 2, 2016 (Elementary) and June 3 - June 10, 2016 (Secondary).

The dates and venues for the oathtaking ceremonies of the new successful LET exam takers are yet to be announced.

Cyrus Villanueva Spends Vacation In The Philippines

"The X Factor Australia" winner Cyrus Villanueva is currently in the Philippines.

The 19-year-old singer is spending a vacation in his father's hometown, Davao City. His social media posts suggest that he flew to the country over the weekend and went to an island-hopping tour in Samal Island on Monday.

One photo he posted on Instagram shows him playing hoops with his father, while another shows him enjoying a glass of mango shake. He also shared a picture of jeepneys, as well as, a photo him in the back of a truck with his cousins.

In his latest Facebook post, Villanueva said he will be taking a flight back to Australia, tomorrow.

Villanueva won the seventh season of "The X Factor Australia," last year. In December, he released his self-titled debut studio album which features the songs he performed during the show and his winning single, "Stone." Lukas Janisch Wins 'The Voice Kids Germany'

Lukas Janisch emerged as the winner of the third season of "The Voice Kids Germany."

The 13-year-old Filipino-Austrian topped the public vote during the show's finale on Friday night (Saturday morning in the Philippines), taking home the title as "The Voice Kids Germany" champion and the grand prize in the process. His prize includes a training grant worth 15,000 euros and a record deal.

During the finale, which was opened by popular British singer Birdy, the Top 6 contestants performed a solo and also sang with their coaches. Their coaches later chose one to represent their teams in the Top 3. After the Top 3 finalists' performances, the audience and viewers were then asked to vote for the winner. The show ended with the announcement of Lukas Janisch as the victor.

Lukas Janisch and his family reside in Furstenfeld, Austria where his father is from. His mom is a native of Palompon, Leyte in the Philippines.

Solar Eclipse Philippines 2016: Watch PAGASA's Livestream

A total solar eclipse will be taking place across East Asia, North and West Australia and Oceania on Wednesday, March 9.

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun as viewed from the Earth.

In the Philippines, the celestial event will be observed as a partial lunar eclipse which will start at 07:51 am, will have its peak at 8:58 am and will end at 10:14 am.

According to the PAGASA, Mindanao will have the best view of the eclipse with 80% eclipse obscuration, which is the fraction of the Sun’s surface area covered by the Moon. Luzon and Visayas will have eclipse obscuration ranging from 30-60% and 60-70%, respectively.

Cebu Pacific Brings Back Piso Fare Promo

Cebu Pacific's Piso Fare promo is back!

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Cebu Pacific, the country's leading low-cost airline, is offering base fares for local and international flights for only P1. The sale starts on March 8, 2016, and will end on March 10, 2016 or until seats last.

If the terminal fee, web admin fee and VAT are added to the base fare, a ticket for flights originating from the NAIA Terminal would cost P369.12 -- P484.12 if from Cebu and 384.12 if from Caticlan. For the rest of local terminals, one can get a one-way fare for as low as P184.12.

Seats for international routes are also included in the promo. Travelers can avail an all-in one-way ticket fare for as low as P701 for short haul and P751 for long haul.

The promo is valid for flights on July 1, 2016 until March 31, 2017.
